LJ IS THE BEST RESTAURANT IVE EVER BEEN TO. they are so nice and sweet. the food and service is a 10/10. the dumplings, noodles, and cucumbers are my favorite but everything they have is so good!! don’t listen to other bad reviews they are not true!

If someone was visiting Cleveland I'd say they absolutely need to eat here. One of the best restaurants in the area with amazing service and personality. The food and service are well worth it. The atmosphere is cozy and comfortable and you can tell it is a family that runs it, not some giant mega corporation only interested in profits.

As soon as we walked in, we were hit with the best smells ever. At the time, the restaurant was accepting cash only which thankfully we had. We ordered the soup dumplings which are a must have and are the star of the show. We overheard several other group of people order multiple orders of them because they’re so good. Quick service and very personable. You could tell who were regulars bc of the friendly banter between them and the employees and it was all around a comfortable environment. While there we also overheard this restaurant ranked #95 on Yelp’s best Chinese restaurants in the U.S.A. I believe and I strongly agree it earned its spot. I got the mixed veggies soup and my partner, the Shanghai flat noodle soup. Both were excellent soups and id love to get them again. They were even better with some vinegar, soy sauce and chili oil. The prices are also very reasonable as you get what you pay for plus some. I cannot wait to come back!!

This is a great little restaurant. The food is authentic, and it is a gem. The meatball (pork) is excellent, served in a beautiful savory sauce. The service is good. Extremely professional and to the point. The garlic cucumbers are very nice. They trim the seeds off, which is a nice touch. The decor isn't impressive, but the food is. This is authentic Cleveland.

Honestly hands down the most authentic spot ever! LJ is the sweetest and the service is phenomenal! Between the garlic cucumber, soup dumplings, and beef dao xiao- are top tier! If you know/ then you know! Food is always 10/10 - when entering I feel welcomed and appreciated! Everytime I come back it’s like I never left- and I get my moneys worth.

Can’t remember why we had picked this place but am so so glad we did. One negative thing I will get out of the way first, it’s cash only and I always find this a bit annoying.The complaining stops there. I got the spicy beef tendon which was just awesome. Second, I had the pork and veggie wonton soup which was also wonderful. Good prices and portion sizes. They have vegetarian/vegan option but if you’re getting soup make sure you request veggie broth too.The place was busy but had quick turn around, and it’s very popular.

The food is tasty, though portion size varies. Some dishes are better values than others. We loved the panda fried beef and noodle dish. The noodles are excellent, likely handmade. The beef was really tender. The Xiao Long Bao were great. We are them before taking pictures. The pig ears were really good too. The vegetable noodle soup was a little bland in flavor but had a lot of vegetables. There is not that much seating and it can get busy. They are cash only.

It doesn’t get better than LJ Shanghai. If you told me I was dying and I was allowed one last meal it would be the soup dumplings and pan fried noodles. The service is always excellent. The owner recently went cash only- it is so worth the extra minute to take cash out of an atm ahead of time. If you support small business, support woman owned small business, and support amazing quality food at great prices than you want to experience LJ Shanghai. It is the best.
